This being a language that was strictly oral until just a few years ago, the number of speakers with writing skills in Gwama is limited. In spite of being able to form only three word-collection groups and in spite of that a national celebration in the city of Asosa coincided with one of the days of the word-collection phase, participants were able to complete all of the domains in areas 1-7. Motivation was high and all were encouraged by the results at the end.
